Even though Sum-Rub Bangkok in Charan Sanitwong 46 is quite new, there are many cool things about this restaurant that worth mentioning. Firstly, the old-fashioned decor in a large wooden house surrounded by shady trees is supposed to evoke happy childhood memories, especially for those growing up in Bangkok a few decades ago. Secondly, there is a vast menu of traditional dishes that taste like they are coming straight out of grandma’s cookbooks. Must-tries include stir-fried glass noodles with acacia, vegetable soups with prawns and shrimp paste, fried mackerel fish served with spicy shrimp paste dip and vegetables, spicy and sour mackerel soup, and green curry with fish balls.
